Frequently asked questions
Short answers.
What is VibeSifter?
A search engine for eBay Motors that matches a phrase to live listings by resonance instead of keywords. You type a mood, a name or a feeling; it returns real cars for sale on eBay Motors right now.
Is VibeSifter AI?
No. There is no language model, no embeddings and no training data inside it. The engine is deterministic mathematics of our own that measures resonance between a phrase and a listing.
Where do the cars come from?
Every result is a live listing on eBay Motors, pulled through eBay's official API at the moment you sift. VibeSifter does not host listings and never handles a sale.
Is VibeSifter free?
Yes. There is no account, no sign-up and no fee. When you buy a car through a link on VibeSifter, VibeSifter may earn a commission through the eBay Partner Network. You pay nothing extra.
Why would I search by a phrase instead of a make and model?
If you already know the exact car, eBay's own search is the right tool. VibeSifter is for the other case: you know how you want the car to feel, or you want to see what the market holds for a mood, a person or a place.
What does the blue line on each card mean?
It is your phrase, drawn as a map, and it is the same line on every card. The bars are the car. Short green bars hugging the line mean the car sits on your phrase; taller, warmer bars show where it drifts. A lit line means the car sits squarely on your phrase.
What is a high resonance match?
A card that resonates unusually closely with your phrase. It says nothing about the car's condition, price or history.
What is the pool?
The set of listings pulled from eBay before the sift runs: category, make, price floor and ceiling, and era. It is set before searching, not applied to results afterward. A gauge estimates its size.
Why set a price floor?
Because the cheapest end of eBay Motors is parts cars and projects, and they crowd the results. A floor of even a few thousand dollars gives the sift more distinctive cars to work with.
Are the results personalized or sponsored?
No. There are no paid placements, no sponsored positions and no personalization. The order comes from the mathematics. Two people sifting the same phrase against the same pool get the same answer.
Can I save cars?
Yes. The plus on a card keeps it in your saved hunt, stored in your own browser. You can export a case-file, a zip with photos and listing details, to send to a friend or a mechanic.
Does VibeSifter appraise or inspect cars?
No. It surfaces listings. Condition, title, mileage and history belong to the seller and to eBay. Verify the live listing and get an independent inspection before buying any vehicle.
Who runs VibeSifter?
One person in North Carolina, as an independent project. VibeSifter is not affiliated with eBay. Contact: steve@suffusemedia.com.
